We know how gorgeous our retreats are, but don’t just take our word for it – here’s what previous guests say about Compton House:

We had a wonderful 'family' week at Compton House, ages ranging from 7-70. It's a great house to gather family/friends and for their to be space for all to spread out with plenty of activities to keep everyone happy. My family particularly loved the outdoor space with Grandpa organising several treasure hunts, the games room where many a 'competitive' game took place and the tennis courts for those feeling particularly energetic. There are lots of extra luxuries which make entertaining a large gathering more enjoyable. It's a house that we'd definitely like to return to as a family, maybe in the summer to make use of the swimming pool.

Wonderful house, in a truly gorgeous location. The house and garden had everything you could want including, pool, tennis court and games room. We had an amazing couple of days both enjoying the house and the local area.

A stunning property in a stunning location. Compton House is a beautiful home that is decorated to the highest standard and with a very well equipped kitchen. The pretty gardens are inviting and surrounding views make Compton House a gorgeous place to stay.

All round perfect retreat… so peaceful set amongst ancient trees and sheltered by the mendips it really was a place to recharge with fabulous walks from the door. Bruton was well worth a visit and especially Hauser and Wirth gallery, bar and farm shop. Thank you from the Wark and Churchill families. X

Highly recommend this fantastic house… we had age range from 4 to 86 year old and there was something for everyone. Peaceful location… could happily stayed for longer!

Spent a wonderful family Christmas at Compton House. Nothing to fault. Excellent accommodation and facilities, magnificent location. Welcome hamper and Christmas decorations were the icing on the cake. Very helpful and friendly communication from Chantal , the owner, and Boutique retreats.

Thank you for the most amazing weekend at a wonderful property, our first booking through Boutique Retreats and will definitely use them again. Chantal, the owner of Compton House was so helpful from start to finish, provided great information about the local area and every last detail and more had been thought about. A truly wonderful stay and a fantastic location, a great experience from start to finish. Can’t wait to return in the summer months.

Great place for young adults and their parents.

We had a wonderful big family celebration and every age from 4y to 70y found the home, garden, pool and tennis court a boon for playing and bonding.

Fabulous accommodation for twelve people, adults and small people. So spacious inside. The garden all four acres of it are beautiful. The games room was superb and we were lucky enough to have decent weather to be able to use the fabulous pool. Plenty of attractions locally for all ages. We could not have asked for a better place for a family of three generations.

A huge thank you to Chantal and James our hosts. We felt thoroughly spoilt from the moment we walked through the door. All three generations had a wonderful time!

Fabulous house in the most serene location. Perfect for a family and friends get away - plus the owner was very gracious!

Compton House was a fantastic location for a family get together. The house is beautifully finished and extremely well equipped. There is loads for the kids to do to distract them from their iPads and we all had a fantastic time. We could easily have stayed longer.

Compton House is the perfect choice for a multi generational holiday. Everything we could have needed was provided and Chantal, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. The interior is stylish, yet comfortable and there is a long list of fun things to do outside, including a tennis court, games room, treehouse, playframe and a, sublimely warm, swimming pool. All surrounded by the stunning Mendip Hills. We very much look forward to returning.

Compton House - Beautiful Location, perfect for large family / group. The tulips and welcome hamper were a wonderful touch on our arrival, and the bedroom linens and furnishings were gorgeous. The house is spacious and well laid out with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Overall, we were impressed with the many features, extensive utensils, appliances, kitchen aids, games available in the games room, the piano, tennis courts and beautiful artifacts within the house. A hidden gem.
